My home computer is down with a virus -- AGAIN -- which blows. The only saving grace is that it has given me time to go back and play some console gems I've been neglecting for a long while. Right now I'm bound and determined to finish Beyond Good and Evil. It's a great game, albeit horribly overlooked by many. The universe is charming in the same way Jak & Daxter was. Very original and immersive.

I really miss the golden age of platformers. Mario lives on, but those games have always kind of lacked a plot outside of "Princess got her ass captures by Bowser again. Go get her back". There for a while there were a lot of titles to choose from -- the Jak series, Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank, Psychonauts, so on and so forth. Admittedly I've been a little out of it in terms of gaming, but I haven't seen recent ads for similar games. Zombies and futuristic warfare seem to be winning out over cartoon violence with a dash of heart and kooky plot. Have they ceased to exist, or have I just missed them?
